The John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital Burn Service is meant to provide the resident and fellow with a basic exposure to complete care of the burned patient. Due to the emergent nature of burn injuries e.g. most patients are not scheduled as elective cases or admissions, approximately 50% of patients are admitted after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Daily morning team rounds with the burn attendings, weekly burn lectures, morbidity and mortality conferences, outpatient burn clinic follow-up biweekly, and maximal time in the operating room and burn intensive care unit provide a well-rounded experience.

Program started 2004
