This is a 1 year surgical critical care fellowship. The fellow will spend a total of 9 months rotating on various ICU services and will have 2 months of elective time that can be split between trauma, vascular, or cardiac surgery, echocardiography, palliative care, nutrition, and interventional radiology. The remaining 4 weeks are used for vacation, to be disseminated throughout the year.
The fellow will oversee a team of approximately 6-8 interns and residents. The fellow will work alongside fellows from the Departments of Anesthesiology and Medicine in a multidisciplinary ICU. The ICU attending staff are also from a multidisciplinary group of Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, and Medical Critical Care providers.

Qualifications: Categorical residents in an accredited general surgery program are welcome to apply. The applicant must have completed at least 3 years of general surgical training. Preference will be given to persons who have completed all years of general surgical training.

Research opportunities

The department has 2 dedicated biostatisticians and 1-2 residents who are assigned to research on trauma/acute care/critical care topics. The fellow can use these resources at will. There is no protected time for research itself.
