The Burn & Shock Trauma Institute at Loyola University Medical Center invites you to apply to our NIH-supported research training program. Our program, an integral part of the Department of Surgery, provides training in both clinically relevant basic science and translational research related to trauma and burn biology.



"is open to clinical residents in general surgery or other applicable specialties, such as pediatrics, neonatology, surgical specialties, and anesthesiology."

"is also open to individuals who hold a recent Ph.D. degree in a biomedical discipline."

"offers exposure of trainees to both basic scientists and clinicican-scientists to enhance their research experience and to investigate high impact clinically relevant problems in burn and trauma with the goal to improve the standard of care."

" begins July 1, every year, and includes two years of intensive basic laboratory and translational research training."

Each trainee can choose from seven different extramurally funded laboratories for their fellowship.

Qualifications: Fellowships are restricted to US citizens of permanent residents; most fellows have completed at least two years of clinical training prior to entrance. Applications from under-represented minorities are strongly encouraged.

Forward your current curriculum vitae, a brief synopsis describing how our research training would advance your surgical career (not exceeding a page), and three letters of recommendation including a letter from your program director and the Chair of the department to Dr. Majetschak
