General/Acute Care Surgeon at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley
The Department of Surgery/Section of Acute Care Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a general surgeon, ideally with an interest in emergency general surgery, to join the position of General Surgeon based at Stanford Health Care (SHC) Tri-Valley, in the East Bay, with clinic privileges in nearby Emeryville. This faculty position will be at the Clinical Instructor, or the Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor level (commensurate with level of experience) in the Stanford University Clinical Educator Line (CE).
The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in clinical care, education, scholarship, and/or leadership in general surgery. Applicants must be board-eligible or certified in general surgery and must be eligible for licensure in the state of California. Successful candidates will join a team of surgeons in a busy community setting and are expected to demonstrate clinical excellence in general surgery, including running a busy inpatient general surgery practice, building an elective surgical practice, as well as providing emergency general surgery call coverage (approximately 4-5 call days per month). There will be opportunities to promote or develop clinical programs in abdominal wall reconstruction or robotic surgery, and to develop the emergency general surgery program as the Director of the Stanford ACS Tri-Valley EGS Service Line.
Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills are essential. Dedication to advancing the training of medical students, residents, fellows, and multidisciplinary provider teams is expected. A track record of academic productivity, including contributions to conferences and professional societies and peer-reviewed publications, is an asset. Applicants with graduate degrees and/or research, innovation, or leadership interest and expertise are also encouraged. Successful candidate(s) will have access to clinical and academic mentorship and partnerships from within Stanford ACS and across Stanford University.

The expected base pay range for this position is:
Clinical Instructor: $200,000
Clinical Assistant Professor: $346,000 - $376,000
Clinical Associate Professor: $407,000 - $449,000
Clinical Professor: $487,000 - $529,000
This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It may not include all components of faculty compensation or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
