Trauma Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner- Geisinger Medical Center, Danville PA

Join our team in a fast paced complex environment and have the opportunity to be part of the clinic, OR, Trauma and SICU environment caring for patients and assisting our Surgeons

Shifts: 12 hour (M-F) & 10 hour (S-S)
Support staff: Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RNs (available all hours of operation), Phlebomoy, Radiology Techs
Exam Rooms: 7
Electronic Health Record: Epic
Specialized Equipment: Telemedicine carts, negative pressure rooms, continuous vital sign monitoring
Diagnostics: X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI
Hospital Admissions: If necessary, patients can be directly admitted to the hospital from this hospital-based clinic.
Services: Diagnostics, including laboratory and imaging studies (onsite), as well as treatments including (but not limited to):

Nebulizer therapy
Diuresis (intravenous)
Hydration (intravenous)
Corrections of electrolyte abnormalities such as hyponatremia or hyperkalemia
Intravenous antibiotic treatment for conditions like cellulitis, simple pneumonia or infection
Antihistamine treatment for patients with allergic reaction without airway concern
Rate control for patients with known atrial fibrillation (AFib)
Hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia treatments
Antihypertensives
Headache/migraine treatment for known migraine patients
Perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.

Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.
Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
