Acute Care Surgeon

The Division of Acute Care Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a full-time academic Acute Care Surgeon who is BE/BC in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Additional fellowship training in Trauma or Acute Care Surgery is a bonus. Maimonides is an ACS Verified Level 1 Adult and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center in Brooklyn looking to expand its new and highly successful Acute Care Surgery Program. Join our 6 highly trained and dedicated Acute Care Surgeons. Currently, we cover our busy Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Service, the Pediatric Trauma Service, and a 13 bed SICU. Our emergency room sees over 130,000 patient visits, and, as the busiest trauma center in Brooklyn, we admit over 1,300 trauma patients per year.

Maimonides Medical Center is a 700 bed teaching hospital serving the 2.5 million people of Brooklyn, NY. The experienced Acute Care Surgeons at Maimonides Medical Center collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide world-class care for patients with life-threatening injuries, critical surgical illnesses, and surgical emergencies. We have our own General Surgery residency, Surgical Critical Care fellowship, and medical students who rotate from several medical schools.
Our medical center is located in southwest Brooklyn in the neighborhood of Borough Park. It is easily accessible from Manhattan by car or train and near many highly desirable areas of Brooklyn.
This is a unique opportunity to join a group that is still growing and interested in each Acute Care Surgeons’ input on how to develop the program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to medical student, resident, and fellow education. Interest in clinical or trauma systems related research is expected. The position is appropriate for a graduating fellow or young attending surgeon who is interested in a busy acute care surgical program.
