Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trauma / Acute Care Surgeon and critical care provider to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trauma/ acute care surgery and surgical critical care, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and quality improvement initiatives. This role will involve covering call shifts as part of the Trauma / acute care surgical team. (Please see essential job functions below.) The selected candidate will eventually transition to Trauma Medical Director, Acute Care Surgery Medical director, and Codirector of the ICU. The focus of these roles will be to expand Trauma and Surgical Critical Care services with the goal of obtaining ACS Level II trauma center status.
Practice Information:
- 140 licensed beds with 20 bed CCU
- Level III Trauma Center, ACS verified, and State designated in Sept 2024
- ED volume: 35K per year
- 20 Bed ED with ability to expand to 28 with hallway bed
- Trauma registry ~1000/yr (93% blunt) with ~475 trauma admissions
- Dedicated trauma/acute care OR block (M-F 8-5)
- Dedicated APC coverage, at least two Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) on weekdays and one APC on weekends
- 24/7 hospital medicine, critical care, GI (24/7 ERCP coverage), and IR services available
- 24/7 Nephrology coverage with HD and CRRT available
- Starting January 2024, 24/7 in-house Anesthesiology coverage
Minimum Qualifications:
- Board Certified in General Surgery
- Board Certified in Surgical Critical Care
- Unrestricted Montana MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license
- ATLS certified with continued maintenance of certification
- Previous experience in Trauma/EGS/Surgical Critical Care role
- ATLS instructor potential
Preferred:
- Ability/ interest in taking Critical Care call
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for all trauma and acute care surgery consults from the Emergency Department
- Responsible for inpatient consults from Hospitalists, Intensivists, Gynecology, Urology, etc
- Responsible for consults and transfers from surrounding hospitals and clinics. The majority come through the Bozeman Health Transfer Center
- Directing rounds and management of the inpatient trauma and acute care service with the APCs and Medical Students
- Responsible for the Trauma/ Acute Care Surgery Clinic which is two half days per week
-Covered by the on-call provider in conjunction with the APCs
Compensation & Benefits
This is an employed salaried position with additional incentive and quality compensation. Opportunity for a sign-on bonus is also offered.
