T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship Position in Injury Pathobiology and Outcomes In Critical Illness
The NIH/NIGMS T32 “Physician/Surgeon-Scientist Research Training in Injury Pathobiology and Outcomes In Critical Illness” (MPIs Kuo/Majetschak) Training program in the Department of Surgery, University of South Florida, is currently recruiting clinician scientists for an open post-doctoral position in injury/critical care research.
The primary goal of this training program is to train the next generation of clinician/surgeon-scientists, who have the knowledge, skillsets and motivation to perform translationally relevant and meaningful research that will lead to significant improvements in patient outcomes. We have the infrastructure, resources, expertise and motivation to provide our trainees with advanced and individualized research training in a vibrant scientific environment. We will provide trainees with intensive state-of-the-art training in responsible conduct of rigorous and reproducible research that is guided by individual development plans. Trainees will have the opportunity to select a scientific mentor of their choice among a large group of well-funded and experienced faculty mentors with outstanding expertise in injury pathobiology and outcomes research. Research projects include but are not limited to studies on the interplay between inflammation, immune responses and cardiopulmonary, cerebro- and renovascular function, endothelial and smooth muscle biology, and large data outcomes research in critical illness. In addition, trainees will have the opportunity to obtain additional graduate degrees/certifications during their research fellowship.
This is a 2-year fellowship program with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. This post-doctoral position is salaried according to NIH guidelines. Eligible candidates hold US citizenship or permanent residency status, an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree (or equivalent) within 5 years of degree completion, and have a strong desire and interest to pursue research in injury pathobiology and outcomes in critical illness.
