The Department of Surgery/Section of Acute Care Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks an academic acute care surgeon to serve as the Director of emergency general surgery (EGS) at Stanford Health Care (SHC) Tri-Valley. This faculty position will be at the Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor level (commensurate with level of experience) in the Stanford University Clinical Educator Line (CE).

Successful candidate(s) will join a team of academic subspecialty surgeons at our Tri-Valley site and are expected to demonstrate clinical excellence in general surgery, including running an inpatient EGS service (with approximately 4-5 call days per month) and building an elective surgical subspecialty practice in an area of their interest. Successful candidate(s) will have access to clinical and academic mentorship and partnerships from within Stanford ACS and across Stanford University.

The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in clinical care, education, scholarship, and/or leadership in general surgery. Applicants must be board-eligible or certified in general surgery and must be eligible for licensure in the state of California. Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills are essential. Dedication to advancing the training of medical students, residents, fellows, and multidisciplinary provider teams is expected. A track record of academic productivity, including contributions to conferences and professional societies and peer-reviewed publications, is an asset. Applicants with graduate degrees and/or research, innovation, or leadership interest and expertise are encouraged, as are fellowship-trained surgeons (e.g. Acute Care Surgery).
