J Trauma Acute Care Surg. 2021 May 25.

Rationale for inclusion: Trauma registry-based retrospective analysis to verify a previously published VTE risk stratification tool. Based on 86 of 52,524 pediatric trauma patients who had VTE, the alorithm performed well identifying high risk patients with an AUROC of 0.96. The VTE risk stratification tool is provided in this study as reference.

CAVEAT: Retrospective analysis, discovered inaccuracies in the trauma registry. Low incidence of VTE in pediatric population (0.16%)
