Abstract

Non-operative management of adult blunt splenic injury is still debated. The study by EAST of non-operative management by Pietzman and colleagues looked at the safety of observational management only. No prospective randomized studies have been performed furthermore, no prospective multi-institutional studies comparing surgery vs. observation vs. embolotherapy have been performed. This study is intended to compare surgery vs. observation vs. embolotherapy by splenic injury grade and abdominal injury score.
