Statement:
The Pediatric Trauma Society (PTS), the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) and Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR) are four organizations committed to improving the care of injured children through education, guideline development, injury prevention, advocacy and research. These organizations have agreed to partner on the development of a GRADE-based Guideline to provide evidence-based recommendations regarding imaging
of pediatric trauma patients. An MOU has been signed by the EAST president approving this collaboration. The goal of the PMG will be to develop guidelines for use of abdominal imaging including FAST and contrast-enhanced computed tomography in pediatric trauma with the purpose of maximizing outcomes including cost, radiation exposure, patient transfer, and injury diagnosis.
