Best Practices for Suicide Screening and Prevention Among Adults with Traumatic Injury2021
Type: New Practice Management Guideline (PMG)
Category: Injury Prevention
Committee Liaison: Amanda Teichman, MD, FACS
Team leader(s)
Statement:
Suicide, a leading cause of death in the United States, is a major public health issue. Individuals treated for traumatic injury are at heightened risk for suicide compared to the general population. Trauma providers are uniquely positioned to assess suicide risk and intervene to prevent suicide among those identified as at risk. Despite this, no practice guideline for suicide prevention in trauma centers exists.
In collaboration with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
