Statement of Need:
The last few years have seen a rapid increase in the number of publications related to thoracic lavage for treatment of hemothorax. Industry partners have developed tubes to make lavage more accessible, which increases the likelihood of use. As an organization, we need to provide a review of the unbiased literature on the subject to help guide clinical management.
