Statement of Need:
This guideline was published in 2019, and although the topic remains relevant, it is due to be reviewed as it was published >5 years ago. There has been additional research since the 2019 guideline that may lead the committee to change or strengthen its recommendations. Further, the 2019 guideline does not address the clinically relevant questions of duration or type (iv or oral) of antibiotic. It also does not differentiate between complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis, which we would do.
