Team leader(s)
The necessity of discontinuing VTE chemoprophylaxis in the perioperative setting for planned, non-emergent orthopaedic surgery has been problematic for many disciplines including trauma surgery, nursing, and orthopaedic surgery. The decision to withhold or administer and the timing of that decision is inconsistent and results in variation in practice. The goal is to focus on this specific subset of patients and identify best practice with our nursing and orthopaedic colleagues.
